Fierce and feisty 52 year old with an ageless spirit and youthful mindset searching for someone who can appreciate my somewhat eccentric nature and diverse interests while keeping up with me (or even challenging me) on serious hikes or cross country horseback excursions.
So, what's "fun" about me? I'm usually the instigator, the one poking at others to get out and do something - a winery, a hike, a movie, something/anything so that we're not just sitting around watching endless marathons of Netflix et al. I'm also a natural born "hostess with the mostess"... few things I enjoy more than whipping together a smorgasborg of delectable delights to nosh on over a glass (or two, or three) of good wine.
I love getting "lost"... whether in a foreign country, hiking in the woods, reading a good book, or simply being fully present in the moment. I am most passionate about, and in constant search for; understanding, exploration, and continued opportunities to learn and grow.
I believe that it's a moral obligation to give back and to make this world a better place. I believe in oneness, Unity, and the golden rule (and the prime directive) ;)
I absolutely LOVE what I do - it truly doesn't feel like work. Helping others is something deeply ingrained in my soul. I am living my passion - I am a counselor & coach with my own practice as well as a Crisis Management Counselor for a DOS contractor - international/cultural relations is my specialty. I've traveled to other 40 countries!
*In case it's not already clear, I don't believe in walls... I have dedicated my life to helping others tear them down (both those between people and those that live in our own minds and hearts)... if you think walls are a good idea, we will not get along at all. **Just to be crystal clear, I am a very vocal and progressive liberal (and yes, I vote in every election... it's both a moral and civic duty). ***And no, I don't drink anyone's koolaid, I actually research multiple sources and fact check everything.
I am constantly in pursuit of opportunities to learn and grow, and I have a profound appreciation for those who are also on a path of discovery.
In my spare time I can usually be found at the stables doing work with our rescue horses, which also explains why I never meet any men.
This is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE readings, it is pure perfection...
The Invitation, by Oriah Mountain Dreamer
It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life's betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain! I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it, or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own, if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, to be realistic, to remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself; if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul; if you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see beauty even when it's not pretty, every day, and if you can source your own life from its presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand on the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, “Yes!”
It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up, after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done to feed the children.
It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back.
It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you, from the inside, when all else falls away.
I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.
